MATERIAL GIRL

MY SARI USUALLY COMES OUT TO PLAY WHEN THERE’S A WEDDING IN THE FAMILY OR A SPECIAL RELIGIOUS FUNCTION, YOU’LL SEE SAREES BEING WORN THROUGHOUT BOLLYWOOD MOVIES AND I THINK THEY’RE SO BEAUTIFUL. WHEN I PUT ONE ON IT KINDA MAKES ME FEEL LIKE A DISNEY PRINCESS AND I JUST GLIDE AROUND THE PLACE WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE.

INCASE YOU AIN’T CLUED UP PEOPLE, A SARI OR SAREE IS A STRIP OF UNSTITCHED CLOTH, RANGING FROM 4 TO 9 METRES IN LENGTH THAT IS DRAPED OVER THE BODY IN VARIOUS STYLES. THE MOST COMMON STYLE IS FOR THE SARI TO BE WRAPPED AROUND THE WAIST, WITH ONE END THEN DRAPED OVER THE SHOULDER AND BARING THE MIDRIFF. THE SARI IS USUALLY WORN OVER A PETTICOAT, WITH A BLOUSE FORMING THE UPPER GARMENT. THE BLOUSE USUALLY HAS SHORT SLEEVES AND A LOW NECK AND IS CROPPED A LA BRITNEY SPEARS. THEY MAY ALSO BE BACKLESS OR HALTER NECK STYLE BLOUSES. I’VE SHARED WITH YOU A PHOTO FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE LEAVING FOR MY COUSINS WEDDING (THAT’S MY SISTER, MUM, ME AND MY PAPS MUNCHING AN APPLE IN THE BACKGROUND) AND THEN A PERSONAL PICK ‘N’ MIX OF VARIOUS SAREES FROM 'SAREE UNIVERSE', LOOK EVEN THE DOLLS LIKE EM, MEEEOW.
